I enjoy using Mike Mahoney’s walnut oil and wax finishes. They give my bowls the color and luster I am looking for in final finish. The added bonus is that it is food safe

Awesome product direct from Mike Mahoney. Mike sent a pint bottle as well which is perfect to dispense on cutting boards and bowls or whatever project. Can’t go wrong!

I’ve used this on cutting boards, end grain butcher blocks, knife blocks, coasters, you name it. It smells nice, doesn’t require gloves to apply and unlike mineral oil and fractionated coconut oil actually cures solid over time. It’s now my favorite finish for anything in the kitchen or that may come in contact with food.

Bought four years ago and I still have much of the oil and wax to use. As I’ve salvaged a lot of wood furniture and items whose only defect is the state of the wood surface, these products have restored both appearance and function across all of them without fail.

Works well after turning fresh wood. The oil brings out the golden colors and the wax helps protect it and keep it looking clean and fresh. Also helps prevent cracking on fresh wood. I apply the wax once a day and keep the bowls in a paper bag full of the woodchips/saw dust. Seems to help prevent cracking. Great product.
